Bassett’s Liquorice Allsorts which were first invented by accident in 1899. A Bassett’s employee, Charlie Thompson, was showing samples of various individual liquorice sweets to a customer when he tripped and scattered the sweets all over the floor. As he scrambled to rearrange them the client became intrigued by the mixture of the sweets and inspired the company to market them as Liquorice Allsorts.
